The global population of Phu Thai people
group is believed to be around 800,000 with half living across South East Asia, and of
which 70,000
are believed to remain mostly in Northeastern Thailand. The name Phu
Thai has a generic meaning ‘Tai people’ and in many countries they are not
recognized are a distinct ethnic group but treated as subgroup lumped together
under the official ‘Thai’ minority, as many have merged with other
communitities. A number of Phu Thai refugees were granted asylum in the USA,
and a small community has lived in the Los Angeles
areas since the late 1970s. The Phu Thai people have a rich cultural
heritage, which is envied by other ethnic groups, and they are famous for their
textiles, found in Bangkok markets.
Phu Thai people is 90% Buddhist with
beliefs based on ancient animism, worshiping 25
spirits as they gather annually
for the ‘Pi Tian’ (spirit of heaven) festival.
In Phu Thai villages in Thailand, female shamans, called ‘moi yau’, perform
rituals mediating the Phu Thai people and the spirit world, going into trances
giving message to and from each world. The moi yau are both feared and highly
respected by the Phu Thai people. The Phu Tai people are monogamous. They live
in nuclear families with up to three generations under one roof. In order to
marry a Phu Tai lady, the man must first sever her from her ancestral family
spirits, a drawn out affair with many of ceremonies and sacrifices. There are several hundred Phu Thai Christians in Thailand,
but the vast majority has never heard the gospel. Their strong sense of
community results in their being resistant to change and outside influence.

하나님께서 지금 말씀하십니다. 태국의 푸타이 종족 여러분이
섬기는 신들을 버리고 돌아서서 복음을 받아 들일 때 산들을 지으고 바람을 창조하고 자기 뜻을 사람에게 보이고 아침을 어둡게 하고 땅의 높은 데를
밟는 하나님의 이름이 만군의 하나님 여호와이심을 알게 될 것을 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 선포합니다.
[기도문] 태국의 푸타이 종족이 만군의 하나님을 알고 만날 수 잇게 해 달라고 기도합니다.
태국의 푸타이 종족을 오랫 동안 토속신앙과 불교의 영으로 미혹해 왔던 영들을 예수
그리스도의 이름으로 묶고 파하게 하시며 태국의 푸타이 종족이 숭배하는 지역과 자연 위에 그 모든 것을 창조하신 만군의 하나님이 계심을 인정하게
하사 그들에 마음을 움직여 주시고 복음 앞에서 그 마음들이 낮아지게 해달라고 기도합니다.
“여호와를 자기 하나님으로 삼은 나라 곧 하나님의 기업으로 선택된 백성은 복이
있도다” (시 33:12)
이 말씀을 다시 한번 태국의 푸타이 종족에게 선포합니다.
여호와 하나님께서 말씀하십니다. 태국의 푸타이 종족이 여호와 하나님을 태국의 푸타이
종족의 하나님으로 삼으시기를 원하신다고 말씀하십니다. 태국의 푸타이 종족이 하나님의 음성을 듣고 반응하여
여호와 하나님을 태국의 푸타이 종족의 하나님으로 삼을 때, 하나님께서 여러분을 하나님의 기업의 백성으로 삼으시고
복을 주실 것을 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 선포합니다.

태국의 푸타이 종족을 향한 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지기를 기도합니다.
태국의 푸타이 종족안에 소수의 성도들이 믿음을 잃지 않고 잘 지킬 수 있도록 보호하시도록
또한 태국 땅에서 사역하시는 선교사님들을 예수 그리스도의 보혈로 덮어주시고 위로하시고 새 힘을 부어주셔서 푸타이 종족을 품고 더 많은 교회들이
세워지게 하시도록 특별히 LA의 푸타이 디아스포라를 통해서
모국인 태국 땅의 푸타이 종족에 십자가의 진리를 증거되는 하나님의 군사가 되는 역사가 있게 하시도록 함께 기도합니다.
